Third NYI Philippines work and witness team impacts local church in Davao

by | Dec 9, 2022

Nazarene Youth International and Work and Witness Team ministries in the Philippines have been successful in engaging young people in mission work. For the third time this year, this partnership sent a group consisting of 8 young people from around the Philippines to serve at Panabo Church of the Nazarene in Davao del Norte, Philippines. The team was led by Girle Ann Dado – Field Youth Coordinator, and Kevin and Janet Wilkins – Field Work and Witness Coordinators.

The participants were excited to visit the province to witness how God works through the local church and how He will work through their lives to impact the community. Since the team members are professionals and most have full-time jobs, serving on a mission trip is a sacrifice for them because they not only need to take time off from work, but each member had to contribute financially for this trip. But despite the challenges, the Lord has provided ways to make this mission trip happen.

For three days, the team did work around the church, such as painting the newly constructed training center, painting the outside walls, and varnishing their beautiful doors. Moreover, they also installed lighting fixtures outside the church. The training center will be used by the local church and the district to educate and train lay people and pastors about church planting and the Course of Study.

The team also had various opportunities to do the witnessing. They gave away gifts to children through the partnership with Samaritan’s purse. They were able to have fellowship with other youths in the community and had a great time playing games, worshipping God and sharing the Word.

The mission trip to Panabo church has made a huge impact on these young people’s lives by witnessing and experiencing the service and hospitality of the local church. It was a joy to work alongside the local church family.

“This mission trip encourages me that someday I’ll be part of those who are sent as missionaries.” – Renz (from Eastern Visayas District)

“With a grateful heart as part of the Panabo NYI, I give thanks to the Lord for the lives of these sisters and brothers, who not just helped us in the beautification of the building but also showed us amazing things that God can do when you follow His will in your life.” – Irish (Panabo church young people)
