Taiwan Braces for Arrival of Category 4 Typhoon Chan-hom as Storms Move Through Pacific Islands

Western Pacific:  Nazarene Churches in Taipei are keeping a close eye on Typhoon Chan-hom, as it makes its way northwestward toward Southeast Asia.

Currently a category 1 typhoon with winds gusting to 115 mph (185 kph) Chan-hom is due to make landfall over the northern edges of Taiwan sometime Friday evening, as a category 4 typhoon with winds in the range of 131-155 mph (210-250 kph).

There are currently at least 42 organized Nazarene Churches on the Taiwan District.  Please pray for District Superintendent Rev. Tang, Shi-Li “Andrew”, our church families, and all of those who will be impacted by the storm.  Pray that the storm would either change direction or dissipate before making landfall.


 Typhoon Nangka – Northern Mariana Islands

Typhoon Nangka is currently 284 miles east of Saipan, moving westward at 17 mph (27 kph).  It is currently forecast to make landfall over the Northern Mariana Islands mid-day on Thursday, July 9th.  This storm is currently a category 4 as well.   Please commit to pray for the Pacific Islanders who inhabit these small islands.
