Mission Trip in East Java Indonesia inspires young people to missions

by | Jan 3, 2025

Surabaya, East Java: On December 7-12, 2024, the Mission Night Team held a mission trip at Bratang Village, Surabaya, East Java. This is the team’s second mission trip. They collaborated with the Church of the Nazarene in Bratang this time, pastored by Rev. Antonius Sandrego. This church is ministering to the scavenger community in their area. Students from Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary also joined the Mission Night Team.

This mission team comprises 25 participants from five countries, cultures, and work backgrounds. For four days, they built relationships, served people in the community, and shared God’s love with them. The team also held free health check-ups and cleaned the surroundings around the community, where some of the residents, from children to adults, helped. God is at work not only in the lives of the people they visited and prayed for but also in the lives of the participants themselves, as God changed their hearts and minds through the experiences they had during this week. They learned that whether you are near or far, there are always people whom God wants them to serve to bring God’s hands and feet to where the people are.

The team coordinator shared, “This mission trip is not only a blessing to the scavenger community, but it also changed the perspective of the team members as they learned about how God does His mission through the lives of the people whose cultures are very different from ours and actively and intentionally connected and shared the love of Christ in the community.”

Praise God for mission opportunities like these. As this continues to impact the community, may this experience impact those who participated to find God’s calling in their lives and help the local church continue its ministry in the community to make Christlike disciples in the nations.
