Memorial fund helps future pastors in the Philippines

by | May 13, 2022

GMA Cavite, Philippines: A couple of months ago, Pastor Stephen Gualberto, senior pastor of GMA Church of the Nazarene experienced the tragic loss of his 6-year-old son Orvi due to complications of Covid-19. This was only months after his wife Theresa passed away. No words can describe the trauma and grief that he and his daughter, Hadassah felt during this time.

During this dark time in their family, Pastor Stephen has seen how the Nazarene church family and friends from all over the world supported them through words of encouragement, comfort, prayer, and generous gifts. And in response to this overwhelming love, their family has decided to set up a memorial fund for young people who are studying to become pastors in the Nazarene Bible Colleges in Baguio and Cebu.

The memorial fund was named Orvi Memorial Educational Assistance Fund to remember Orvi’s dream of becoming a pastor. Even at a young age, he had expressed the desire to “follow in his father’s footsteps” and serve as a pastor. He would often put on his dad’s barong and shoes and “preach.”

Theology students seeking to pursue pastoral ministry can apply for a $150.00 scholarship each semester that will go to their tuition expenses. Philippine Nazarene College (PNC) and Central Philippine Nazarene College (CPNC) are eligible to apply. Five students from each college will receive this scholarship each semester.

It is the prayer of Orvi’s family that these students will become effective, Christlike pastors who will lead the church in the Philippines in transformational ministry in their communities. You can also partner in raising up future pastors by giving to Orvi Memorial Assistance Fund.
