Central Philippines Nazarene College elects new President

by | Jul 15, 2022

Cebu City, Philippines: The Central Philippines Nazarene College is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Gilbert Montecastro as President.  He is an experienced educator and has been teaching for the past 30 years. He has taught at Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary, Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary, and Central Philippine Nazarene College (formerly Visayan Nazarene Bible College).

Dr. Montecastro earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from CPNC. He completed his Master of Theology studies at Presbyterian College and Seminary in Seoul, Korea and Master of Divinity at Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary. He is also a graduate of Doctor of Theology from Asia Baptist Graduate Theological Seminary.

Ordained in 1998, he spent his time to minister to churches and pastors. Dr. Montecastro served as the President and Vice President of the Philippine Association of Bible and Theological Schools (PABTS), DAB member and secretary of the Central Visayan District, and consultant in various strategic missions initiatives for the church. Before being elected, he recently served as the senior pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene Angeles City.

Returning to his alma mater, Dr. Montecastro has a heart for CPNC and its vision for the central Philippines and beyond. There is a sense of optimistic anticipation for the future of CPNC as he brings his gifts and experience to the task of President.

Dr. Montecastro is married to Merlita (who also holds a ThD in Pastoral Care and Counseling). They were blessed with four children Alice Grace, Gilbert, Gilynne Grace, and James Gilbert.

Let us include the Montecastros in prayer as they begin this new ministry assignment on 1 August 2022.
