Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands:  Around 11pm on Sunday, August 2nd (Guam time), the eye of Typhoon Soudelor passed over Saipan, located in the Northern Mariana Islands, north of Guam.

The Guam Pacific Daily News reports that the damage has been quite severe, equating it to the devastation left in Guam after the passing of Supertyphoon Pongsona in 2002.

Images of significant damage have been circulating on the internet. Our missionaries, Dave and HelenAnn Bucher, are off island at the present time, and are attempting to obtain updated information from their friends and official contacts.
