by | Oct 4, 2014

Japan:  The past several months have been difficult for the citizens of Japan. Multiple mudslides and the recent eruption of Mount Ontake, have claimed  many lives, with many still missing.

Dr. Manabu Ishida, Japan District Superintendent, gave this recent report and request for prayer:

“As you may know, we had serious landslides in Hiroshima,
and a volcanic eruption.  Both of the disasters caused deaths of many people.

Though none of [our] Nazarene members suffered by the incidents, I would like to ask our brothers and sisters to pray for those who lost family members and/or friends.”

Dr. Ishida further mentioned that proposed changes to the constitution could have dramatic effects on the nation of Japan.

“We, as Japanese Christians, pray that our nation will be the peacemaker in the world,” said Ishida.  “We wish that Nazarene brothers and sisters pray for that.”

“In 1907, Japan became the eighth nation of the world in which the people called “Nazarenes” proclaimed the message of Christian Holiness. [At that time] the work was progressing with new holiness churches, missions, and preaching points in Canada, Cape Verde, China, Cuba, Japan, Mexico, Scotland, and the United States.” (manuscript from Nina Gunter)

Please commit to pray for the Church in Japan., our Nazarene brothers and sisters, and the continued outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
