Singapore:  Many people associate Bible storytelling with a children’s Sunday school class but the fact is, people of all ages enjoy a good story!  And with Bible trekking, while creating images with words requires skill and imagination, no special equipment is needed.

Bible story telling has become Ray Neu’s favorite way to communicate the transforming messages of God’s Word.  During a recent marathon week in Singapore, Ray had plenty of opportunities to communicate!
Just one and a half  hours after arriving in Singapore on an overnight flight, Ray was standing before his first group – 125 high school students.   Over the next 6 days, Ray spoke in 19 different venues including home fellowships, adult English classes, cultural gatherings, and kindergarten, middle school, high school, and university classrooms.   Over 350 participants from Korea, Japan, Myanmar, China, the United States, and 21 other nations, heard the gospel presented in story form during the course of the week.
Ray had the opportunity to share a story from the Gospels with a home fellowship.

Ray had the opportunity to share a story from the Gospels with a home fellowship.

While the Bible stories were familiar to most, the format was engaging and participatory, drawing the listeners into the drama.  Much like Jesus’ first audiences, they experienced the joy of discovering eternal truths for themselves.

Participants not only learned new truths from the stories, they also saw the art of Bible storytelling or “Bible Trekking” (as Ray prefers to call it) effectively modeled.  Since Ray’s visit, a group from Myanmar has decided that they want to start a study of Jesus’ parables.   Other participants have been challenged to re-think the way they share Scripture with their friends.
It was a very busy but very fruitful week as the Word of God was shared through stories.

“All Jesus did that day was tell stories—a long storytelling afternoon. His storytelling fulfilled the prophecy:  I will open my mouth and tell stories; I will bring out into the open  things hidden since the world’s first day.”  Matthew 13:34-35,  The Message.
