On 20 May 2026, in the spirit of unity, ministry, and concern for God’s creation, Juventude Nazareno Internasional (Nazarene Youth International) Dili in Timor-Leste participated in an activity titled “TOGETHER CARING FOR AND PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT” organized by the JLND (Jerasaun Loos, Nasaun Diak) movement in Timor-Leste. This activity was held as part of the celebration of Timor-Leste’s Independence Day anniversary and provided an opportunity for the younger generation to demonstrate their love for the nation and the environment through concrete actions.
The JLND movement brings together young people from various church denominations in Timor-Leste. This movement’s vision is to build a young generation that cares about the nation’s future, has a spirit of unity, and actively serves the community. Through social activities like this, JLND aims to instill the value of social responsibility while strengthening bonds of brotherhood among Christian youth from various church backgrounds.
In this activity, participants took part in a beach cleanup by picking up plastic waste, used bottles, and other debris polluting the coastal area. Early in the morning, the young men and women gathered enthusiastically, carrying trash bags, gloves, and other cleaning equipment. They walked along the beach together, cleaning every corner littered with trash to create a cleaner and healthier environment.
JNI Dili participated with joy and a spirit of ministry. The togetherness fostered during the activity was a beautiful illustration of the body of Christ’s unity. Despite coming from different denominations, all participants were able to work together toward a common goal: protecting the environment and making a positive impact on the surrounding community.
This activity also served as a reminder that environmental stewardship is part of believers’ faith responsibility. God entrusted the earth to humans to care for and maintain
Through participation in this activity, JNI Dili hopes that more young Christians will develop a sense of environmental cleanliness, love for their nation, and live in unity. May this spirit of service and concern continue to grow and become a tangible testimony of Christ’s love among the people of Timor-Leste.
