Guided by the Word: Timor Leste Youth Camp 2025

by | Nov 7, 2025

The camp was held during FINADU or LORON MATEBIAN, a major Timorese holiday when many visit cemeteries to honor ancestors. In contrast, the youth camp offered a different kind of reflection—one focused on seeking Christ, learning from His Word, and deepening faith in Him.

The four-day gathering opened with a worship service and reflection on Protestant Reformation Day (October 31), setting a tone of spiritual renewal and thanksgiving. Throughout the camp, participants engaged in a variety of activities designed to nurture faith and fellowship—dynamic worship sessions, inspiring messages from speakers and pastors, small group reflections, morning devotions, and fun team-building games that strengthened friendships and unity among the youth.

A highlight of the event was the talent night, where young people showcased their creativity through performances centered on the camp theme. Before departure, participants also worked together to clean and restore the school grounds, reflecting the camp’s spirit of stewardship and community service.

Reflecting on his experience, Marcos Azevedo (Ameu) shared, “Through this youth camp, I learned invaluable life lessons. I discovered the importance of teamwork, leadership, and effective communication through the activities and games. The testimonies and experiences shared by the speakers deeply inspired me to be strong and courageous, to feel God’s presence, and to grow spiritually.”

Armona Vieira da Costa (Mona) expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am very thankful to God for the opportunity to join Youth Camp 2025. I learned so much and built meaningful friendships with new people in my group. Each session from the pastors and speakers was encouraging and truly a blessing to me.”

As the camp concluded, hearts were full of joy and renewed faith. The event not only strengthened bonds among young believers but also inspired them to continue walking with Christ and live according to His Word.
