On February 22, 2026, approximately 150 believers and guests gathered in Hmawbi, Wanetchawng, Southern Myanmar, to celebrate the dedication of the newly completed Center for Christ Church of the Nazarene. The new building stands as a visible testimony to what can happen when prayer and global generosity come together in mission.
The center was made possible through the faithful giving of Nazarene churches around the world through the Alabaster Offering, a special fund designated for constructing churches and ministry facilities in mission areas.
However, the story of this building began long before construction started.
Over the past year, the church and the surrounding community have experienced a powerful movement of the Holy Spirit. Weekly Saturday evening prayer meetings have become a vital part of church life, drawing believers together for passionate intercession. During these gatherings, many testified to receiving renewed spiritual strength, and some experienced sanctification—a deeper surrender to Christ and a renewed commitment to holy living.
Out of this season of spiritual renewal came a clear vision for a ministry center.
Rev. Aung Tin, the senior pastor, and the congregation committed themselves to fasting and prayer. Their prayers were not simply for a new structure, but for a place where revival could continue, disciples could be nurtured, and the work of the Holy Spirit could flourish.
During the dedication service, Rev. Dr. Donghwan (Bill) Kwon preached from 2 Chronicles 7:12–16 under the message, “If This Place Is to Bear My Name.” He reminded the congregation that a building is not holy simply because it is new, but because God chooses to dwell there.
“The building is complete,” he said, “but will God dwell here?”
The new center will serve not only the local congregation but also the wider ministry of the Southern District. It will host worship services, discipleship gatherings, zone pastors’ prayer meetings, and Course of Study classes that train current and future pastors for ministry.
The dedication of this center reflects a broader movement across Southeast Asia, where 212 new churches have been planted in the past five years. As churches continue to grow and step forward in faith, the new ministry center in Southern Myanmar stands as a reminder that prayer lays the foundation and partnership builds the walls.
