Major Dr. Dean Smith

Nazarene Theological College, Brisbane:  NTC is excited to announce the addition of a new faculty member for 2015, Major Dr. Dean Smith.

Smith will serve as a permanent, full-time faculty member at NTC from January 2015. He will be teaching in the areas of Theology and Philosophy, allowing NTC to expand their course offerings and research supervision in these areas.

Just recently, Smith resigned as the Academic Dean of Booth College in Sydney, which is the Salvation Army Higher Education Provider in New South Wales (NSW) and a member institution of the Sydney College of Divinity. He served as Academic Dean for 11 years.

Dean and his wife, Rowena, will be moving to Brisbane at the beginning of January. They will be living in Wishart and Rowena will be working for the Salvation Army in the city. They have three adult daughters, Lauren, Stephanie and Hannah, but they will be remaining in Sydney at this point.

NTC Offers Gap Year Experience of a Lifetime!

Smith has degrees in Philosophy and Theology and graduated in 2010 with a PhD in Philosophical Theology from the University of Queensland. His research interests include Process Theology, Christology, Ethics and the ongoing dialogue between Science and Theology.

He is a research fellow of the Australasian Centre for Wesleyan Research and is on the editorial board of the ACWR’s journal Aldersgate Papers. He has published in a number of journals including Heythrop Journal, Aldersgate Papers and the Salvation Army Journal Word and Deed.
