by | Oct 29, 2014

Manila, Philippines:   On October 29-31,  Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary, in partnership with the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches, hosted the second Wesleyan Theology Conference.

Comprsd ConfThemed, “Holy Trinity: Holy People,” the conference provided a venue for fostering healthy discussion of important themes in the Theology of Holiness from various perspectives in the Evangelical Community of the Philippines.

There were 180 registered participants for the daily sessions with over 300 attending the evening holiness services. The group represented more than 12 denominations.

The conference promoted and strengthened interdenominational ties while encouraging discussions on holiness within the Asian context. Dr. Dick Eugenio, chairman of the organizing committee, commented: “As Wesley once commented, the doctrine of holiness is ‘the grand depositum’ of our tradition. This is the time not only to discuss holiness, but to live it in reconciling relationships with one another as people who preach, testify, and promote the doctrine.”

Dr. Thomas Noble, Professor of Theology at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, addresses the conference.

The conference was honored to have Dr. Thomas A. Noble, Professor at the Nazarene Theological Seminary (USA) and Senior Research Fellow in Theology for the University of Manchester (UK), share Biblical perspectives on the doctrine of holiness. Additionally, Dr. Noble served as the facilitator of dialogue amongst those who are from holiness backgrounds and with other church leaders who came from different traditions.

The Wesleyan Theology Conference, which first met in November 2012, is the only gathering of Wesleyan-holiness denominations in the Philippines for the discussion and promotion of the doctrine of holiness.
