Asia-Pacific NDI Council gathers to advance disciple-making initiatives

by | Jul 5, 2024

The Asia-Pacific Region Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI) Council gathered in Tokyo Japan on 28-30 May 2024 for its annual meeting. The group led by Rev. Eun Yup (John) Kim met to report on the development of NDI and disciple-making initiatives within their respective fields and districts. They also developed strategies and plans for the next year and discussed how to collaborate with other local church ministries for the sake of holistic disciple-making within and beyond the local church.

The meetings were generously hosted by the Japan District Church of the Nazarene and its District Superintendent, Rev. Dohi Tsutomu. The council was able to learn and experience methods of discipleship in the Japanese church context. They also had a chance to visit Shimokitazawa Nazarene Church during their mid-week prayer meeting and have fellowship with the local members. The Japanese Church of the Nazarene has a strong foundation of Wesleyan theology and Biblical teaching. The council was grateful for their hospitality and partnership in the making of disciples in the nations.

It was also a great opportunity for the council and Japan district to have a time of learning through some workshops such as Learning the Purpose of NDI, Definition of Christlike Disciples and a Method for growing in Christlikeness based on the Sermon on the Mount. These workshops encourage the council and local leaders in Japan to go into the harvest field and make Christlike disciples.

May God continue to equip, empower, and send his Church to make disciples in all the nations, tribes, and cities of the Asia-Pacific Region and beyond.
