On 18 April 2026, the Myanmar Central District (Yangon Zone) successfully conducted its first-ever Basic Media and Communication Training at YCF Church of the Nazarene. This historic initiative marks a significant milestone in the district’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the ministry’s effectiveness through communication and digital engagement.
The training was led by Media and Communication Coordinator Ram Tin Par and drew 16 participants representing several local churches in the district. The group included 10 youth and 6 ministers, demonstrating a strong commitment from both emerging and established leaders to grow in this important area of ministry. The presence of young people added energy and creativity to the sessions, while the ministers brought valuable ministry experience, enriching the discussions.
The workshop focused on three essential areas: Basic Photography, Basic News Writing, and Canva Design. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of capturing meaningful photos, writing clear and engaging ministry reports, and creating visually appealing designs for announcements, social media, and church events. Each session combined teaching with hands-on practice, allowing participants to immediately apply what they learned. Many expressed excitement upon discovering simple yet powerful ways to communicate their church activities more effectively. This training was organized in response to the growing importance of media in today’s ministry context. As churches increasingly engage with digital platforms, the ability to communicate clearly and creatively has become essential for sharing testimonies, promoting events, and reaching people beyond the church’s physical walls. By equipping leaders and youth with these skills, the district is taking intentional steps to remain relevant and impactful in a changing world.
The program began with a one-day, in-person training that emphasized practical learning and active participation. However, this is only the beginning. The participants will continue their learning journey through a one-month online program, where they will complete lessons, submit assignments, and receive feedback. This extended format ensures that learning is not only theoretical but also practiced and developed over time. Certificates will be awarded to those who successfully complete all requirements, providing recognition and motivation to help participants finish strong.
One participant, David Thang, shared his reflection: “As a member of the Jesus Film Ministry, I am very glad to have the opportunity to attend this training. It is a very valuable course for me.” His testimony reflects the overall sentiment of many who found the training both practical and inspiring.

Beyond skill development, the training also fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose among participants. It created a space where individuals from different churches could connect, collaborate, and envision how media can be used as a tool for ministry. As participants return to their local churches, they carry not only new knowledge but also a renewed vision for using media to tell stories of God’s work in their communities. This first-ever media training lays a strong foundation for future initiatives in the Myanmar Central District. With continued support and expansion, similar trainings may be conducted in other zones, multiplying the impact and equipping more leaders for effective ministry in the digital age.
