The New Zealand District NYI held its three-day camp at Chosen Valley Christian Camp from 12–14 January 2026. The camp began with a pre-camp prayer chain on Sunday evening, with prayer requests placed around the sanctuary at Mangere Church. NYI leaders participated by moving from one prayer station to another, creating an atmosphere marked by a strong sense of the Lord’s presence.
The camp, the first major event on the NYI calendar for the year, emphasized the theme of walking in the Spirit as a journey. District First Lady Sowbhagya shared reflections on faith as a lifelong walk, while FSC Rev. Satish taught from the lives of Samson, Daniel, and Solomon.
The Tuesday evening service concluded with a powerful altar call, during which many young people responded. Three young men made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Following the service, campers were invited to write prayer requests, personal goals, expressions of gratitude, names connected to the upcoming APNYI Conference, and other prayer topics on A3 sheets. These were later displayed in the chapel, where campers gathered to pray together.
One prayer station simply displayed the word “You,” prompting personal reflection. This moment shifted the atmosphere as young people prayed for themselves and for one another. The chapel became a space marked by tears of release, joy, and renewed hope.
The camp highlighted the importance of providing young people with a space set apart from the noise and distractions of daily life, allowing them to encounter God in a meaningful and personal way.
Appreciation was expressed to New Zealand District Superintendent Dr. Paul and District First Lady Sowbhagya, as well as to the pastors whose prayers and support contributed to the camp’s success. Gratitude was also extended to NZ NYI President Ps. Mativa and the NYI Council for organizing and leading the camp, and to FSC Satish Manmothe and ANZ FYC Agnes Vaotuua for their ministry and support from Australia.
The camp concluded with a renewed sense of spiritual hunger among the youth, who expressed a readiness to walk in the Spirit throughout 2026. To God be the glory.
