On 20 October 2025, with hearts full of gratitude and vision for the future, the Asia-Pacific Region joyfully celebrated the 110th Anniversary of Nazarene Missions International (NMI) through a spirit-filled gathering that marked both remembrance and renewal. The regional celebration, organized by Christine T. Mosuela, Asia-Pacific Regional NMI Coordinator, served as the official kick-off event for a year-long commemoration across the region.
The celebration began with 110 Hours of Prayer, symbolizing more than a century of God’s faithfulness in missions and the global partnership of Nazarenes united in intercession. This meaningful prayer journey culminated in a Kick-Off Dinner Service held in honor of the missionaries serving in the Philippines–Micronesia Field.
The evening opened with a heartfelt prayer from Dr. Eileen Ruger, Regional Missiologist, setting a tone of thanksgiving and reflection on God’s mission. One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to these missionaries in recognition of their dedication and service. Special acknowledgment was also given to former Regional NMI Coordinators and Global NMI Representatives from the Asia-Pacific Region, represented by Rev. Raquel Fausto, honoring their lasting impact on the mission movement of the Church of the Nazarene.
Adding a touch of fun and engagement, the celebration featured interactive trivia and puzzle games that tested participants’ knowledge of NMI’s rich history, covering its beginnings, pioneering leaders, and significant milestones that have shaped the movement over the years.
A significant moment came when the District NMI Presidents had the chance to connect personally with the missionaries. These heartfelt exchanges opened the door to deeper partnerships, with many district leaders expressing their excitement to invite missionaries to their upcoming conventions—strengthening ties between local churches and the global mission field.
Looking ahead, the Asia-Pacific Region anticipates a year-long series of mission-focused activities, including:
- A podcast series featuring stories of missions and transformation
- “Did You Know That?” trivia segments highlighting milestones and unsung heroes of NMI
- Care and Connection projects supporting missionaries during home assignments
“This celebration is not just about looking back—it’s about rekindling our passion for missions today,” said Christine T. Mosuela, Regional NMI Coordinator. “We honor those who have served faithfully and continue to pray for the next generation who will carry the mission forward.”
The evening concluded with an inspiring message from Dr. Kafoa Muaror, Asia-Pacific Regional Director, who stirred hearts toward renewed passion for missions. His wife, Rev. Aggie Muaror, emphasized the call to “light the world” as she introduced the song Go Light Your World. During the song, the Philippines–Micronesia Field NMI Team led a moving candle-lighting ceremony, filling the room with a warm glow as voices united in worship—a powerful reminder that we are called to be the salt and light of the world.
This milestone celebration not only commemorated 110 years of NMI’s faithfulness but also reignited the region’s commitment to “making Christlike disciples in the nations.” With prayer, passion, and partnership, the Asia-Pacific NMI family continues to carry the torch of missions into the next generation.
