One Heart, Two Homes: Speaking to the Unique Needs of Parents and Children in Post-Divorce Families

by | Jan 19, 2017

Regional Announcement:  More and more families deal with the issue of one heart divided between two homes.  How do we as leaders provide support and encouragement for these parents?  How do we understand the emotional and developmental concerns of children of divorce?

Discipleship Place is hosting a free webinar entitled: “One Heart, Two Homes: Speaking to the Unique Needs of Parents and Children in Post-Divorce Families.”

This webinar, led by Jay & Tammy Daughtery, MMFT, will discuss topics including how to:

• Create a culture of love and acceptance amid the stigma of failure and judgement.
• Understand the dynamics of post-divorce families.
• Provide support for single parents and remarried parents.
• Understand the emotional and developmental concerns of children of divorce and how to raise them into healthy, thriving young adults.

Tammy is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the Tennessee Council for Children and Youth. Tammy has a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University and is a sought after lecturer at AAMFT, NARME, AACC and many other national conventions and universities. In 2014 Tammy co-founded the Center for Modern Family Dynamics with her husband, Jay, as a way to work with children and families in the Middle Tennessee area.

Tammy has over fifteen years experience in co-parenting and currently lives with her husband, Jay, in Nashville, Tennessee. Together they’re enjoying an extremely active blended family that includes four children (ages 16 to 28), two son-in-laws and two grandchildren… all managed by Tammy’s two oversized day planners!

Jay is Co-founder of the Center for Modern Family Dynamics, a marriage and family therapist, author and speaker. Formerly Jay has been a Nazarene pastor for over twenty years in Southwest Ohio, Northern Michigan, Central Virginia and Upstate New York. Jay lost his first wife, Diane, in a tragic car accident, leaving him to raise three children alone. Jay persevered many years as single father and continued to hone his gift of music and teaching. Now, as a blended family father, Jay shares his time between creating music, leading worship, writing articles and books and teaching youth. Jay was recently featured on FamilyLife Radio with Dennis Rainey, Ron Deal and Bob Lepine on the topic of “Co-parenting after Divorce in Single Parent and Step Parent Families.”

The webinar will be held Friday, February 23th, 2017, at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM U.S. Pacific Standard Time.
