Fiji District NDI Camp 2025: Raising the Standard in Faith and Fellowship

by | Oct 3, 2025

Pacific Harbor, Fiji — From September 2 to 5, 2025, the Fiji District Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI) held its camp at Coral Coast Christian Camp, Pacific Harbor, with the theme “Raise the Standard.” The four-day gathering welcomed more than 63 children and young people, creating a space for fellowship, worship, and a deeper understanding of what it means to live by God’s standard. The camp aimed to celebrate God’s goodness and faithfulness while helping participants connect with their wider Nazarene family and experience a fresh encounter with Him.

The camp featured a series of powerful messages and creative sessions. District Superintendent Rev. Daniel Latu opened with a message from Isaiah 59:19-21, reminding campers that every person is created with a divine purpose. Using a striking illustration, he showed how sin distorts but never erases God’s design in humanity. Through repentance and redemption, participants were encouraged to embrace their true purpose as bearers of God’s image.

The following day, Rev. Leilani Roqara spoke on “Well-Being – Spiritual and Physical.” Drawing from Colossians 3:17, she reminded the young people that “Jesus is our Standard.” Just as schools, companies, or homes follow rules and values, Christians are called to live by God’s principles and align their lives with His truth.

On the third day, Esther Muaror and Sera Kaitu’u presented “The Journey of Grace” through a vivid color illustration: black for sin, red for Christ’s sacrifice, white for forgiveness, blue for the Holy Spirit, green for spiritual growth, and gold for the hope of heaven. Campers placed their thumbprints in paint on a bare tree canvas, symbolizing fruit-bearing lives in community. The finished artwork was presented to the NDI leadership as a gift of gratitude and a marker of new beginnings. Each participant also received a small bottle containing the six colors as a personal keepsake.

The final day included a session on “Education and Mental Well-Being” led by Mrs. Sarote Alfred, who encouraged the young people to pursue their dreams in education, careers, and personal growth. Later that evening, gender-specific small group sessions were facilitated by Rev. Sharon Latu for the girls and Brother Samuela Raganitoga for the boys, alongside camp pastors. These safe spaces allowed participants to share openly about struggles such as absent or divorced parents, broken trust, academic pressures, and the challenge of living with integrity. Many responded with prayers for healing, strength, and renewed faith.

The camp concluded with a meaningful campfire service and a sending fellowship on September 5. In a powerful moment of surrender, 17 children gave their lives to Jesus Christ, marking the culmination of a week filled with worship, fellowship, and transformation.

Men and women alike left the camp reminded that to “Raise the Standard” is to live fully in God’s grace, purpose, and calling.
