Baguio City, Philippines:  If the church is to have an impact in the years ahead, it must make an intentional effort on Rooting, Renewing, and then Releasing, the Emerging Young Leaders of the Church!

This was the theme of the recent National Emerging Leaders Summit held April 16-19, at Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City. More than fifty young emerging Nazarene leaders from across eleven districts of the Philippines met to discuss how together they could become a Kingdom impacting team!

Global Director for Nazarene Youth International, Rev. Gary Hartke, was the guest speaker for the event and provided challenging messages on breaking free to become the leaders that God would have the emerging youth to be!

Throughout the Summit, the young emerging leaders were assembled  into three “breakout groups” which were lead by senior pastors who helped to guide discussion and serve as mentors.

The young people were given instruction from the Scripture, core values, doctrine, justice, peace and reconciliation and founding history of the Church of the Nazarene (Rooted).  There was then a tremendous time of re-commitment as they shared communion together and served each other in a very heart touching, impactful, ceremony of washing each others’ feet (Renewing).  As the third component of the summit, the emerging leaders spent one day going into the local communities in their breakout groups, assessing needs, and then a second day working alongside local churches in assisting with the implementation of ways to meet the identified needs (Releasing).

We thank God for His anointing and presence during the Summit, and for the many young emerging leaders who have made a commitment to be the future of the Church of the Nazarene in the Philippines!  To God Be the Glory!
