PLNU Students and Leaders Embark on Mission Trip to the Philippines

On 7- 28 May 2024, Fourteen students and two Point Loma Nazarene University leaders recently embarked on a mission trip to the Philippines, partnering with local church leaders and Nazarene Missions Team Coordinators Kevin and Janet Wilkins to spread love and serve in various communities. The team visited and served several locations, including:

  1. Isla Verde, four days at Isla Verde COTN with Pastor Jeffrey, is an encouragement to our Point Loma Team and the Nazarene Missions Teams coordinators. This young, passionate, fun-loving pastor leads this missional church and has made deep connections in the community. They learned so much! They had six teammates from Southern Tagalog District, and deep bonds were formed. This is a beautiful place, and even though there is no electricity without a generator and limited water supply, they were so blessed by their time together!
  2. Gintong Aral and River of Life COTN, where they had the opportunity to work in the preschool, participate in a community Cleanup day, meet the community leaders, and help at a Medical Mission day. They led Sunday School and enjoyed a fantastic worship service and a youth worship jam session.
  3. Shechem, a children’s home for kids rescued from online sexual exploitation, where they spent time with the children and learned about the trauma-informed care they receive while learning about the love of Jesus.
  4. GMA Church of the Nazarene and Lingap Bata Child Development Center, where they were welcomed with song, words of encouragement, gifts, and prayer. They learned about poverty through personal homestays and participated in a prayer walk to the schools.
