Mission Trip sparks church pioneer initiative in Northeast Thailand

by | Jan 26, 2024

Members of Nazarene Youth International Korea opened the door to plant a church in an unreached area in Northeast Thailand. On 14-20 January 2024, the group participated in a mission trip with the theme “Be a missionary, Do missions, and Go to the Field.”

NYI Korea dreamed of doing missions, and the Thai District Superintendent and Nazarene missionaries were praying to reach unreached groups in Northeast Thailand. In collaboration with the team from Korea, the Thai District Superintendent and Nazarene missionaries decided on the target area.

When the Korean team arrived in Thailand, they were joined by local leaders from the Thailand District and pioneer missionaries. They visited Ban Duea, where no churches have yet been planted. The group used their various talents to share the gospel. Many of the Korean team are majoring in acting and music.

NYI Korea Coordinator Rev. Hwang Changseon said, “I have been praying for this mission trip since NYI Korea started in 1997. It means a lot to me and NYI in Korea. Praise God that we could be part of pioneer work in Northeast Thailand.” One of the team members, David Nam, a Christian rapper in Korea, said, “It was the first mission trip in the history of NYI Korea. As the NYI president, I am proud that NYI Korea could participate in the Nazarene Core Value,We are Missional People.’

The pioneer missionaries from the United States and South Korea have been praying for the new church in Northeast Thailand. This NMT was significant given the vision of the Thai district and the missionaries. They believe God has given them the Word of God for a new area.

(Acts 3:47) “For this is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” Let us pray that a new church will soon be started in this area.
