On 18 May 2026, the PNUP (Pendidikan Nazarene Untuk Pelayanan – Course of Study) Learning Center in Papua officially opened as a new learning center hub for PNUP Sealands Field. This moment marked a significant milestone in the development of ministerial preparation in the Papua District. The presence of this learning center not only addresses the educational needs of God’s ministers but also symbolizes the Field and District’s commitment to expanding access to quality education for ministers across districts.
The PNUP Learning Center in Papua serves as a decentralized educational facility aimed at equipping ministers who desire to be used more effectively in the ministry. Through this learning center, ministers pursuing ordination or seeking to deepen their understanding of theology and ministry can receive comprehensive Nazarene education without leaving their respective areas to enroll in a formal School. The presence of this learning center opens up broader opportunities for ministers in the Papua District and other districts to continue growing in their calling to ministry.
The PNUP Learning Center in Papua also makes history as the first learning center hub in the Sealands Field. Therefore, this opening is a strategic and inspiring step toward the future development of the educational ministry. It is hoped that each district in the Sealands Field will eventually have a learning center in its respective area, so that Nazarene education can reach more servants of God more effectively and equitably.
The opening ceremony was filled with joy, enthusiasm, and thanksgiving to God. Pastors, district and local church leaders, ministers, church members, and invited guests were present to witness the commencement of this educational ministry. The opening also received attention and support from the Jayapura City Government. The government was represented by the Assistant for Government Affairs of the Jayapura City Regional Secretariat, Mr. Evert Nicolas Merauje.
In his remarks, Mr. Evert Nicolas Merauje stated, “The church is called to serve, but it must also be present and meaningful to the community. Programs like PNUP are very positive because it address real needs within the community.”
He also expressed his appreciation to the Church Of The Nazarebe, especially in the Papua District, for its continued innovation in ministry through education. He stated that this program is expected to spread the same spirit within the community and become an important part of building a better Papua Community development.
May the PNUP Learning Center in Papua continue to equip, prepare, and send more servants of God to serve effectively for His glory and the expansion of His Kingdom.
