Yogyakarta, Indonesia: On 3 March 2026, the Java-Bali District successfully held its 46th district assembly. The 2026 Java-Bali district was a meaningful and historic event, marking the growth and maturity of the district and its ministries. Two significant events that occurred during it served as concrete evidence of God’s presence throughout the long journey undertaken.
The first event highlighted the ordination of 19 pastors in a single district assembly. The ordained pastors came not only from the Java-Bali district but also from other districts and were present to be ordained by the General Superintendent, Dr. Christian Sarmiento. This moment served as a powerful symbol of the church’s significant growth and affirmed its commitment to structured and sustainable ministry. Most of the ordained pastors had completed the Course of Study (PNUP-Pendidikan Nazarene Untuk Pelayanan), a key requirement for ordination. This demonstrates the increasing quality of ministerial resources, who are not only called but also equipped theologically and practically. In an atmosphere filled with joy and emotion, the congregation and church leaders witnessed God’s continued call and preparation of His workers for an ever-expanding field of ministry.
A second, equally important moment was the election of a new district superintendent, Rev. Yehezkiel Siswanto. His election marked the beginning of a new chapter of leadership in the district, which has now reached phase 3 status. The previous leadership, held by Rev. Obaja Sigit for ten years, left a significant mark. Under Rev. Obaja Sigit’s leadership, the Java-Bali district grew into the first phase 3 district in the entire Sealands Field. His dedication and strong vision have placed the church in a strategic position to continue growing and having a broader impact. This leadership change took place in an atmosphere of respect and hope.
Rev. Yehezkiel expressed, “I am grateful that God entrusted me with this ministry. I long for the Church of the Nazarene in the Java-Bali district to grow and prosper, carrying out God’s work and becoming a missionary church. I pray that in the Java-Bali district, there will be generations of young people who will be intentionally built, discipled, and emerged so that new churches can be planted.”
The 2026 Java-Bali district assembly is a reflection of God’s tangible work in His church. These two significant moments are not only historical records but also reminders that God continues to work, lead, and equip His people to face the future with faith and hope. Praise God for all His miraculous works.
