La Trinidad, Philippines: On 7-18 February 2026, a team of 44 volunteers from the Washington Pacific District of the Church of the Nazarene traveled to Philippine Nazarene College (PNC) for a short-term mission that left a lasting impact on both the campus and the people involved. What unfolded was more than a construction project—it became a story of shared meals, cultural discovery, and meaningful connection.
The group dedicated much of their time to assisting with a major renovation of the college dining hall, a central hub for student life. Working side by side with local staff and students, the team contributed labor, skills, and energy to help move the project forward. Their efforts supported a broader initiative to improve campus facilities and create a more welcoming environment for the growing student body.
They didn’t just build a better dining hall—they built relationships.
They joined chapel services, laughed through language barriers, and discovered that joy translates perfectly in any culture. Students and volunteers found themselves swapping stories, sharing testimonies, and bravely trying Filipino delegacies (with varying degrees of bravery).

Beyond construction work, the team participated in various acts of service across campus, from maintenance tasks to student outreach. Their presence contributed not only to physical improvements but also to spiritual encouragement within the PNC community.
Team members described the experience as both humbling and impactful. Many expressed appreciation for Filipino hospitality, noting the warmth and generosity they encountered throughout their stay. In return, PNC students and staff welcomed the group as partners in ministry, creating an environment of mutual respect and shared purpose.
As the team returned home, they carried with them a deeper understanding of service and cross-cultural ministry. The work accomplished on campus will continue to benefit students, but the relationships formed may prove to be the most lasting result.
The February mission trip stands as a clear example of how service, when paired with compassion and genuine connection, can leave a meaningful and lasting impact.
