During the meeting of the Regional Nazarene Discipleship International Team, represented by Field Discipleship Coordinators from around the region came up with the idea of giving the Asia-Pacific Regional Disciple-Making Award.
The purpose of this award is to encourage fields, districts and local churches to make disciples and to celebrate the work that is being done in various places around the region. The field discipleship coordinators chose the district/s from their field based on the 5 Discipleship Values –Fervent Prayer, Authentic Relationship, Compassionate Outreach, Comprehensive Biblical Learning and Intentional Mentoring and Equipping). The Regional NDI awarded 3 districts 2023-2024 and 3 districts from 2024-2025 during their respective district assemblies. The winning districts each received $300.00 that will go towards the plan or strategy that they will implement in their respective districts to further encourage and strengthen discipleship and disciple-making.
2023-2024 awardees:
- Hong Kong District (East Asia Field)
- Metro Mania district (Philippines and Micronesia Field)
- Myanmar Central District (South East Asia Field)
2024-2025 awardees:
- Central Visayas district (Philippines and Micronesia Field),
- Fiji district (South Pacific field)
- South Coast district (PNG field)
The regional discipleship team would like to continue with this strategy and this year, NDI Asia-Pacific would like to focus on districts who are intentionally making disciples to children and youth.
Rev. John Eun-Yup Kim, Asia-Pacific Regional Discipleship Coordinator shared, “All of us are called to make disciples. Making Christlike is not only our mission statement but should be our lifestyle as followers of Jesus. I hope that through this endeavor, we were able to encourage our members in the region and at the same time challenge others to really obey the call to make Christlike disciples.”
