Milestones of Faith: First District Assemblies in Sumatra and Nusa Tenggara and Maluku

by | Apr 1, 2026

The spirit of faith and perseverance in ministry was powerfully evident as two emerging districts celebrated a significant milestone—their first district assemblies. The Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku Districts, all newly entering Phase 1 just a year ago, moved forward with courage and determination. Their journey stands as a testimony that challenges are never barriers when God’s calling continues to lead His people onward.

On 17 February 2026, the Sumatra District gathered in Sibolga City at Berkat Church of the Nazarene for its historic assembly. The setting itself told a story of resilience. The city had recently been struck by severe floods and landslides, with traces of mud and debris still lining the streets. According to local pastor Rev. Firman Gea, the church building had been submerged in nearly two meters of floodwater. Yet the hardship did not diminish their spirit.

Instead, the assembly became a symbol of hope and renewal. The congregation came with joyful hearts, carrying a renewed passion to rebuild and strengthen the ministry. In an atmosphere marked by warmth and unity, each moment of the gathering reflected God’s sustaining grace. What could have been overshadowed by disaster was transformed into a powerful witness of faith and revival.

Just weeks later, on 7 March 2026, the Nusa Tenggara and Maluku District held their first assembly in Ambon City. Despite the geographical challenges of being spread across many islands, congregations traveled from various locations to be present. Their gathering itself was a testimony—unity overcoming distance.

The atmosphere in Ambon was vibrant and celebratory. Worship, prayer, and shared stories of ministry filled each session, reminding everyone of the faith journey they had walked together. More than participants, those present stood as living witnesses to God’s ongoing work across their district.

Together, these two assemblies tell one story: God is building His Church.

From Sibolga to Ambon, the message is clear—when God’s people remain faithful and united in purpose, no obstacle is too great. In His time, faith and perseverance will always bear fruit.
