28 March 2026: The First Asia-Pacific Regional NMI Orientation for Pastors, Local and District NMI Presidents and Councils marked a significant milestone in strengthening mission engagement across the region. Designed as both a learning and re-learning experience, the orientation gathered leaders with a shared passion to advance the work of missions, ensuring that everyone remains aligned with the vision, structure, and current developments of Nazarene Missions International (NMI).
One of the highlights of the event was the interactive quiz led by District Presidents Shyder Samson and Leah Mae Alquizar, which brought energy and enthusiasm to the gathering. Participants were invited to test their knowledge on key aspects of NMI, including its identity, core values, and areas of ministry. More than just a fun activity, the quiz served as a meaningful tool to reinforce learning, encourage participation, and foster a sense of unity among leaders from different fields and districts. It set a positive tone for the sessions that followed, reminding everyone that learning can be both engaging and impactful.
Central to the orientation was a deeper understanding of the NMI Identity. Leaders were reminded that NMI exists to mobilize the church in mission through prayer, discipleship, giving, and education. This identity calls every believer to participate actively in God’s mission, emphasizing that missions is not just a program but a lifestyle rooted in obedience to Christ.
The Five Areas of Impact were also revisited through the South Pacific Field NMI Coordinator, Quinnie Lesatele, providing a clear framework for how NMI carries out its mission. These areas—prayer, World Evangelism Fund (WEF), Alabaster Offering, engaging children and youth, and care and connection—serve as practical expressions of the church’s commitment to global evangelism. By revisiting these, leaders were encouraged to strengthen these emphases within their local contexts.
Another important segment focused on the NMI Structure was highlighted by Australia-New Zealand Field Coordinator, Erna Reyes, clarifying how the organization functions from the local church level up to the global ministry. Understanding this structure helps ensure effective coordination, accountability, and alignment across all levels of leadership. It also empowers leaders to see their role as part of a larger, interconnected mission movement.
The orientation also emphasized the vital roles of Local and District NMI Presidents presented by Eastern Visayas District NMI President, Ma. Jubeth Globio. These leaders are not only organizers but also vision-casters, motivators, and shepherds who guide their churches and districts in mission engagement. Their responsibility includes promoting mission awareness, facilitating participation, and ensuring that NMI initiatives are effectively implemented.
In addition, key updates from the region were shared, including current developments within NMI. One significant update was the introduction of the new NMI logo and the reason behind its change. Leaders were reminded that the new design intentionally points to the saving grace of Jesus Christ through the cross, keeping the focus centered on the heart of the gospel and the mission of the church.
The event itself was born out of the Regional NMI Leadership’s desire to ensure that leaders across the Asia-Pacific Region remain informed, equipped, and inspired. It reflects a commitment to unity, growth, and excellence in mission work.
In closing, AP NMI Regional Coordinator Christine Mosuela expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all participants. She shared, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another,” emphasizing that this orientation is not just about learning information but about growing together. Through constructive interaction, mutual accountability, and meaningful relationships, leaders are empowered to become more effective in fulfilling God’s mission.
Indeed, the First Regional NMI Orientation was more than an event—it was a step forward in strengthening a community of leaders committed to making Christ known across the Asia-Pacific Region.
