Ben Riggins passes at age 78

by | Feb 10, 2020

The father of missionary and Regional Finance Coordinator Scot Riggins, Ben T. Riggins, 78, died on February 6th in Bethany, OK. He was born May 2nd, 1941 in Westover, TX to Ivan and Vergie Mae (Tucker) Riggins. He married Sue Crager and they were married for 44 years before Sue’s death in 2008. He then married Cora Jane Bohannon who survives him after 10 years of marriage.

Ben graduated from Bethany Nazarene College and entered the ministry serving as lead pastor in Barnsdall, OK, Mena, AR, Konowa, OK, and Pryor, OK. He then went to work at the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Muskogee, OK and retired after 23 years of dedicated service. In retirement, he returned to ministry and filled in for many pulpits and served in the churches he attended.

Ben was a believer in the saving power of Jesus Christ and knew that he would not only be reunited with his first wife, Sue but all those who have professed the name of Jesus as the One True Savior. His one desire in life and in his death is that everyone reading or hearing this would come to Salvation in Christ.

Ben is also survived by his children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. They will miss him dearly and know that he is no longer in pain or sorrow. They rejoice in knowing his legacy lives on through them until they meet again.

Viewing will be Sunday, 11 am – 9 pm, with family present from 3-5 pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, February 10, 10:00 am at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Chapel in the Round, with interment in Green Hill Cemetery, Muskogee, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate in Ben’s name to Southern Nazarene University or Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.
