VISION

To assist with local church, district, and livelihood rehabilitation of the area devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda (November 2013). To provide ongoing psychosocial counseling, medical assistance, and woman/children protection programs for the most vulnerable in the communities hit hardest.

DESCRIPTION

The Philippine Field Office is recruiting qualified individuals and teams who are interested in participating in the disaster recovery efforts that are ongoing in the area of the Central Philippines hit hardest by Super Typhoon Yolanda. Many of our some 350 congregations throughout the region have sustained either the complete destruction of their churches and homes or significant damage. While life-critical needs have been addressed, the rehabilitation work will be an ongoing process. Some government reports indicate 3-5 years of focused effort will be necessary to rebuild infrastructures. The Philippine Church of the Nazarene is making significant impact in this area by aiding their brothers and sisters in rebuilding efforts, relief supplies, psychosocial counseling, and financial gifts. National and international work and witness teams are being encouraged to participate in coming alongside our Filipino Nazarene Families in this rebuilding process. Teams and team members with skills in the following areas would be a tremendous blessing: – Skilled Construction – Skilled Electrical – Environmental Health Professionals – Medical Professionals – Psycho-social counselors (Tagalog Speakers a real plus) – Experienced Work and Witness Team Leaders, – Logistics Coordinators – Drivers – Debris Clearing Coordinators – Hygiene Promotion Individuals wishing to volunteer who are not yet part of an official team, and team leaders who are considering a team, should visit the following site to sign up: http://asiapacificnazarene.org/volunteer-now/ We encourage all potential volunteers to not pursue any travel plans until you have communicated with the Philippine Field Office and obtained instructions. Additional questions can be directed to Mrs. Jasmin Eugenio jeugenio@apnaz.org We would encourage all of those who are interested to watch the below short videos about the Nazarene Disaster Response to Yolanda in the Philippines.
