APNTS was the first Master’s level theological institution of the Church of the Nazarene located outside the United States. From the beginning the motto of the seminary has been Bridging Cultures for Christ.
Regular classes began on November 14, 1983, and by 1987 the president at that time was pursuing accreditation with the Philippine government. To that point, no autonomous theological school in the country had sought or achieved government recognition. By 1988 full recognition was granted by the department that is now the Commission on Higher Education.
Accreditation for degree programs was granted by the Asia Theological Association (ATA) in 1988, and by the Association for Theological Education in South East Asia (ATESEA) in 1991.
APNTS continues to grow and expand and has four hundred graduates who have gone on to pastoral teaching, missions and many other forms of ministry in various countries around the world.
