Vanuatu, South Pacific Field:  On Tuesday (03/17), the  following report was received from Melanesia South Pacific Field Strategy Coordinator, Harmon Schmelzenbach.

“This is Tuesday here in Fiji and we have now secured two seats for myself and Regional Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Coordinator, John Watton, for us to fly into Vanuatu.

I just got off the phone with our missionaries again and they continue to focus primarily on the immediate disaster response issues of water, food and shelter. Having been able to secure a couple additional generators and chainsaws… access is now starting to open up for them into areas further out from where their home is located.

Please do join us in praying that God will help John and I finalize things with our own on-the-ground assessment of the Ni-Vanuatu’s condition and the current scope of existing incoming international disaster response.

In light of how the Church of the Nazarene is currently positioned in Vanuatu, our goal is to be able to finalize an appropriate intermediate and longer-term course of action that also makes strategic sense for the church.”

Thank you for your ongoing prayers for all of those impacted by this powerful storm.
